This traditional Matcha Chawan is the perfect shape and size for Matcha preparation. The contour of the bowl from side to bottom is elegant and fits comfortably in your hands.

The deep green glaze, Beedoro, is one of the most traditional glazes of Shigaraki Yaki, one of the six major ceramic developers across Japan. The dark brown color is created by soil containing fine iron. The burnt iron has a faint glimmer or shine, and the technique is known as iron solubilization. Lead-free.

Shigaraki is one of the six major old Japanese kilns.
Begun in 743 A.D., the Shigaraki kiln has produced traditional Japanese ware for over 1250 years, and holds the distinction of being the oldest kiln. Shigaraki ware is characterized by its natural, simplistic style and grace of the combination of the clay and feldspar.

Care Instructions

After each use, gently hand wash with soap & warm water, then allow to air dry. Dishwasher & microwave are not recommended, but may be used with the right level of care.

We provide free standard shipping on all US orders. Shipping is coordinated by USPS - First Class with tracking and generally takes 2-4 business days. International shipping is available for an additional fee and may take 5-15 business days.
